Putting Factors We Can Control

There really are only two things that we can control on every putt we hit:

  1. The Starting Direction of the putt. (Start Line)
  1. The Starting Speed of the putt. (Start Pace)

Green reading is the art (and science) of determining what the optimal Starting Direction and Starting Pace are. If we hit a putt with the correct Starting Direction and Starting Speed we should make most of our putts.

There are obviously a number of physical things we can work on to help us become better at striking putts in the Starting Direction and Starting Pace that we want. These include aiming, stroke path, face angle at impact, stroke length, stroke speed, face impact point.

We may also want to work on our mental approach and our putting routine to become more consistent at how we hit our putts.
